What is Chinese Herbal medicine?

Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) is the process of combining herbal, botanical, and mineral substances to create a tea with healing and therapeutic properties. Just like acupuncture, CHM has been studied and refined over thousands of years. And just like acupuncture, each treatment is unique to each patient. An in depth interview is required to fully understand your complaint, your constitution, and all supplements and pharmaceuticals you are taking to ensure the formula's effectiveness. Formulas can come in four different forms:

Pills/Patents: These are pills, tablets, or tinctures of basic formulas. While they are the easiest form to take, they are not customizable. Therefore, they're used for minor complains, like the common cold, or for subtle constitutional supplementation.

Granules: These are concentrated, powered forms of individual herbs and basic formulas that can be mixed and matched to suit each patients individual needs. This is the most common customized form.

Loose Herb Decoction: The most time consuming, yet considered to be the strongest form. The patient receives the formula with each individual herb in its full form, and cooks them like a big tea. The form is the easiest to customize, and can be less expensive than other forms.

Salves/Oils/Washes: This form is mainly used topical conditions like muscular skeletal pain or dermatological diseases.
